Furniture Repair Technician Job Description

At Turner’s Furniture, our Furniture Repair Technicians are trained to fully repair and restore all furniture products in accordance with various manufacturers’ standards. From stitching upholstery to wood and leather repairs, our Service Team has a passion for helping customers with any issues they may experience with their furniture purchases.

Furniture Repair Technicians are responsible for evaluating damages and making appropriate methods of repair and/or restoration for wood, leather, fabric, and upholstery furniture. Daily tasks may include maintaining inventory and stock records within the service department and identifying supplies that need to be ordered.

Essential Functions

  • Repair and restore furniture products in accordance with the various manufactures’ standards
  • Maintain inventory and stock records within the Service Department
  • Identify supplies needed to be ordered to perform daily tasks
  • Report to work for scheduled shifts on time
  • Perform other related duties or specials projects as assigned

Required Experience/Abilities/Skills

  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience working with wood furniture, leather, fabric, and upholstery
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with hands and displays an aptitude for craftsmanship, artistic and/or carpentry services
  • Efficiency with color matching and blending
  • Wood repairs including scratches, dents, and splits
  • Upholstery repairs including structural/internal mechanism replacements
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Ability to lift, lower, push or pull furniture up to and above 75lbs (with assistance if needed)
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification in Furniture Repair/Restoration preferred

The Delivery Team plays a critical role in ensuring on-time and safe deliveries while providing exceptional service to our customers in their homes. Often time, the Delivery Team has the opportunity to leave a final positive impression with our customers and the purchasing experience.

All Turner’s Furniture employees deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with furniture products our customers need. As a delivery driver this means:

  • >Being friendly, professional, ad responding quickly to customer and associate needs
  • >Verifying that merchandise is in good condition, accurately accounted for, and delivered to customers on time
  • >Inspect delivery vehicles and ensuring the safety and security of the loading and unloading process

Our Delivery Team members spend most of their day driving, inspecting, loading, and unloading merchandise, and assisting with installation. Deliveries are made on a 26’ box truck delivering furniture throughout South Georgia and North Florida.

Essential Functions

  • Performing pre and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Loading the truck in an efficient manner for unloading and confirming customer orders
  • Climbing in and out of the delivery cab to accommodate customer deliveries throughout the day
  • Operating a commercial vehicle in compliance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Performing overtime as required, accomplishing deliveries, and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Report to work for scheduled shifts on time
  • Perform other related duties or specials projects as assigned

Required Experience/Abilities/Skills

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid Ga. Driver’s license, a good driving history, and reliable transportation
  • Be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 80lbs
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Be able to pass DOT Physical
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Have delivery/customer service experience
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
