There are some spaces where good design is about more than how a room looks. It’s about how it makes you feel.
That was especially true when Turner’s Fine Furniture designer Vicky had the opportunity to help furnish and design spaces at Canopy Pines Recovery Center for Women. The goal was to create an environment that felt warm, comfortable, peaceful, and most importantly, like home.
Designing with Purpose
A recovery center has unique needs. While every room needed to be beautiful and functional, Vicky also wanted the spaces to feel approachable and comforting rather than institutional.
Throughout Canopy Pines, she selected furniture, fabrics, rugs, artwork, lighting, and accessories that work together to create rooms that feel collected and welcoming.
Warm wood tones bring richness to the spaces, while upholstered pieces introduce softness and comfort. Layers of pattern, color, artwork, and greenery give each room personality without overwhelming it. The result is a series of spaces that feel thoughtfully designed, but still relaxed enough to live in.

Creating Spaces That Feel Like Home
One of the most important parts of the project was creating an atmosphere where the women of Canopy Pines could feel comfortable.
Instead of making every room look exactly the same, Vicky approached each space individually while maintaining a sense of continuity throughout the property.
Traditional furniture silhouettes mix with fresh fabrics and updated finishes. Colorful rugs add warmth underfoot, while artwork and accessories make the rooms feel finished and personal. Comfortable seating creates places for conversation, reflection, and connection.
These are the details that can turn a furnished room into a space that truly feels inviting.

The Details Make the Difference
Great design often comes down to the details.
A patterned chair can bring energy to a quiet room. A beautiful rug can establish an entire color palette. The right lamp can make a corner feel warmer. Artwork, greenery, texture, and carefully selected accessories can completely change the way a space feels.
Throughout Canopy Pines, those individual choices work together to create an environment that feels intentional without feeling overly designed.
It’s a reminder that a beautiful room doesn’t have to follow a formula. The best spaces are often created by thoughtfully combining pieces that complement one another while still bringing their own character to the room.

More Than Furniture
At Turner’s Fine Furniture, we believe furniture is only part of creating a beautiful home.
Our designers help customers look at the entire space, from finding the right sofa or dining table to selecting coordinating chairs, rugs, lamps, artwork, and accessories that bring everything together.
The Canopy Pines project is a beautiful example of what can happen when design begins with the people who will ultimately use the space.
Every room has a purpose. Every selection contributes to the feeling of the space. And together, those choices create an environment designed around comfort, connection, and a sense of home.
